On that note, I'm also thankful for the way CoverGirl make-up smells like Noxema. Who's with me?? :)
I don't buy expensive make-up; I just can't justify spending that much on something so small that doesn't last forever (like diamonds *lol*). I prefer to spend my money doing stuff around our house and around town, traveling, buying more books.
However, I do buy (more) expensive foundation: Merle Norman Luxiva. I LOVE it! It's the first time I've ever had foundation that truly matches my skin, and I love how it goes on my face. My skin gets super oily super fast (like my hair), so I use ELF (Eyes, Lips, Face) blotting sheets. They are from Target and are only $1. Everything they make is under $5. Can we say amazing??
(And, yes, I do still moisturize my face and condition my hair like clockwork. It's counterintuitive, but it really has helped the problem.)
Anyway, I still feel guilty using money out of our household budget for trivial things like make-up, but Zach said he didn't want me to use my birthday money or my fun money. Like I said, I don't use expensive make-up: just drugstore stuff on sale purchased with a coupon. *lol* I am partial to certain brands for certain items though: I love Maybelline's mascara--the pink and green bottle is iconic--and CoverGirl blush in Peach Perfection. I had offered to use my money because I knew I needed some new blush and eyeshadow. (I'm not too picky about eyeshadow, so long as it looks great with my brown eyes.) He said household money includes toiletries...and that category includes make-up. I know some guys just don't get it, and while he doesn't exactly get make-up (or the chargers I bought for our dining table), he gets that it makes me feel good. I think that is amazing. :)
Note: This photo is an outtake from our engagement photos. We had them taken around Conway, including at Faulkner County Library where we ended up getting married. (We had an Alice's Adventures in Wonderland-themed wedding.) It's hard to believe that it will have been two years on July 19 since we got engaged and two years on September 19 since we got married--which means we will have been together for three years. (We got married exactly one year after we met. "19" has always been our lucky day: we celebrated our first Christmas together on December 19, 2008, we got our marriage license on August 19, 2009, and we signed the lease on our current home on November 19, 2010. There are some more 19's I'm forgetting... :)
